Speaking to talkSPORT, journalist and transfer guru Alex Crook has refused to rule out a Lilywhites swoop for Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer this month – going on to say that it is unlikely but Daniel Levy ‘might just get the chequebook out’ after they were ‘keen’ to land him last summer.
Crook drops January hint on Sabitzer move
Simply dropping the teasing hint ‘you never know‘, Crook explains that there is genuine interest from Spurs and north London rivals Arsenal in the RB Leipzig playmaker – and the Lilywhites will be ‘encouraged’ by latest reports that he’s turned down a new deal to remain in the Bundesliga.
Writing on social media, sharing a piece from The Athletic, Charlie Eccleshare branded Sabitzer a ‘dream‘ January signing for Spurs recently – going on to tout the attacking midfielder as a potential coup for Jose Mourinho.

Whilst he admits the transfer ‘probably’ won’t happen this window, the journalist has also refused to rule it out altogether – with a Levy swoop to land Tottenham their touted ideal January signing still possible.
Sabitzer, according to this report, is seen as a playmaker who can finally replace former star Christian Eriksen as Spurs are still yet to bring a name to north London who can replicate his influence.

Levy was apparently ‘keen’ to sign the £31.5 million-rated ace during Tottenham’s last transfer window, but eventual coups for seven summer signings amid financial uncertainty could have pushed Sabitzer to the side as a future option.
Now, there is a potential chance Spurs could return for the 26-year-old this month albeit unlikely, but given the Lilywhites’ surprise haul last summer, you wouldn’t exactly rule it out.
