Speaking to Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones of Eurosport has made a promising claim involving Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Djed Spence.

The Lowdown: Spurs in hunt...

Amid his impressive spell on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the right-wing-back since January.

Tottenham were in the mix to sign Spence last month according to reliable reports and ESPN even claimed that the Lilywhites had multiple eleventh hour bids rejected.

Antonio Conte's desire to sign a RWB has hardly been a secret, with Barcelona ace Adama Traore previously targeted for the makeshift role.

The Latest: £10m claim emerges...

As per Jones, with Spurs still heavily linked, the reporter says any interested clubs, including Conte's side, could sign Spence for just £10 million this summer.

"There’s going to be a lot of competition to sign him, but Middlesbrough are open to the idea of him leaving permanently," he said to GMS.

“I think it’s £10m, I was told, that was the figure, which isn’t that bad for a Premier League club to be signing a player at that level.”

The Verdict: Get it done...

A figure in and around that amount comes as a possible bargain for transfer chief Fabio Paratici and Spurs going by the homegrown ace's exploits in the Championship.

Called a 'massive player' for loanee club Forest in their bid for promotion by Sky pundit Jobi McAnuff, Spence comes as, arguably, one of the most promising defenders in English football right now.

This is evident by many sides, including Leeds and Arsenal, being interested alongside Spurs - with his parent club manager Chris Wilder also branding the player 'outstanding'.

At just 21-years-old, there's even room to grow beyond his current capabilities, and we believe the sky could be the limit for the man who has shone against the likes of Arsenal and Leicester in the FA Cup already this year.
