Speaking to Football Insider, a Tottenham Hotspur inside source has apparently told the outlet that goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is ‘set‘ for talks over his future at the end of the season – with Spurs planning to offload the South American on a permanent deal.
Gazzaniga was shunned out of Jose Mourinho’s squad selection this season alongside the likes of Danny Rose, coming after chairman Daniel Levy opted to sign former England number one Joe Hart as back up to Hugo Lloris.
Gazzaniga set for Tottenham exit talks
They didn’t manage to find a permanent suitor for the Argentine either last summer or in the January transfer window, with Gazzaniga instead completing a loan move to La Liga side Elche CF for the remainder of 2020/2021.
As per Football Insider, Levy now looks set to try and offload Gazzaniga permanently in the summer.
In a behind the scenes claim, this Tottenham source added that manager Mourinho ‘doesn’t trust’ the shot stopper and is willing to let him part company for good.
Transfer Tavern take
Since his La Liga arrival, Gazzaniga has failed to make his domestic debut for Elche – remaining an unused substitute in their last three league matches (Transfermarkt).
Indeed, so far falling short of reigniting his career on the continent, Levy and Spurs look set for exit talks as a potentially interesting summer transfer window looms.
