Tottenham Hotspur are set to confirm the departures of Jan Vertonghen and Michael Vorm in the summer.

The Spurs duo will bid farewell to the club after serving a combined total of 14 years between them in north London.

According to Football Insider, the Lilywhites are likely to announce that the pair will leave the club at the end of the season. Recent reports have revealed that Vertonghen has emerged as a shock candidate to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this summer.

City have set aside a huge sum of money to spend in the summer after the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned their European ban, but the veteran will not cost them anything as his Tottenham contract is set to expire soon.

Vertonghen (33) and Vorm (36) signed short-term extensions to stay at Spurs beyond the original expiry date of their initial contracts. However, they haven't been able to agree terms with the club and are destined for the exit.

While the defender has been occasionally called into action, his role has been relegated to that of fringe player with just a few weeks remaining on his new deal. The Belgium international, who was a firm favourite of former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, is widely expected to leave in a matter of weeks.

Guardiola views Vertonghen as a temporary solution to his problems in the defence, as City have conceded more goals than Premier League champions Liverpool this season. The versatile player, who has bags of experience at the top levels of the game, can be deployed at left-back if required, and could slot into Pep’s style almost immediately.

Jose Mourinho seems reluctant to give him a chance, as he has been left on the bench in two of the past three games, playing just a single minute the 3-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Right now, Daniel Levy is refusing to offer Vertonghen a new deal, amid interest from clubs all over the world.
