Tottenham unlikely to press forward with £40m-rated target

With celebrations following THAT win over bitter rivals Chelsea still at large amongst the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern, some of them are slightly bleary eyed.

Having blown the title race wide open, our north London locals are once again hopeful Mauricio Pochettino can deliver a Premier League title to their door, though reports from the Guardian have dampened their mood a little.

They claim the club are unlikely to bid once more for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations.

A bid for the 24-year-old is understood to have been the subject of a failed bid from the White Hart Lane outfit over the summer and since continued to impress in south London.

He’s scored four goals and recorded a further six assists this term and is one of the Premier League’s top performers in wide areas, though could miss up to a month of action while he’s away with the Ivory Coast.

That is believed to have put Spurs off and many of our locals are shocked to read within this report that Palace value the former Manchester United winger at around £40m.

It’s a blow for our Spurs fans, though they don’t agree with the Eagles’ reported view of Zaha.

How impressed have you been with Zaha? Let us know below…
