The Spurs fans at the Transfer Tavern seem to be quite concerned about the lack of transfer dealings going on this summer.

No one seems quite sure whether Ross Barkley is going to be a Tottenham player by the end of the summer transfer window, but one thing is for sure, he probably won’t be an Everton player – with The Sun saying Spurs are keen.

Everton have Barkley valued at £50 million which for starters is ridiculous, according to our landlord, considering his contract runs out next year and the fact that he is in no way, worth £50 million.

Mauricio Pochettino clearly agrees as he has refused to meet the Toffees’ valuation and rumour has it, is currently trying to negotiate a lower deal. In the goals department, their front line is doing just fine with Harry Kane picking up the golden boot last season for his efforts but imagine what a Ross Barkley who hits his potential could bring to the side. With that being said, here is Tottenham’s dream 17/18 front line, including Ross Barkley.

RAM: Ross Barkley

The scouse attacking midfielder hasn’t exactly reached his potential but there is still time for the 23-year-old and perhaps the bigger stage of playing for Tottenham could help him finally get to that next level. On his day, Barkley can offer a lot going forward, he’s strong, good on the ball and has a decent shot on him. Should a wide attacking approach fail during a game, Barkley can be utilised out wide as more of an advanced playmaker to cut inside and find a pass. A very useful player, just not worth £50 million.

CAM: Dele Alli

Our landlord suspects Pochettino sat Alli down at the end of last season and just asked for more of the same for when the 17/18 campaign rolls around. Dropping his defensive duties and focusing on his attacking play, Dele Alli has become arguably the best player in the league and the best young player in Europe over the last two seasons. Crucial to Spurs coming so close to Premier League glory, at only 21, Alli is going to get better and better and any defence in Europe should be scared when they see his name on the team sheet.

LAM: Christian Eriksen

The oldest player in this front line, Christian Eriksen is still only 25-years-old and the fact that his best years are ahead of him can only mean great things for Spurs. With eight goals and 15 assists, it could be said that the Dane had a quiet season by his standards which says something of his ability. Starting 36 of the 38 league games last season, Eriksen is crucial to the team’s success with his passing play and technical ability opening routes for Kane to run into which again, can only mean great things for Spurs.

ST: Harry Kane

Speak of the devil, Harry Kane completes the dream front line for Spurs next season should Barkley join and you may notice, it’s stayed the same. That’s because players like Alli and Eriksen are irreplaceable and Harry Kane is no different. A Shearer-esque striker who scored 29 goals last season which is absolutely incredible, Harry Kane is another young talent who will soon be being talked about as one of the best strikers in the world.
