Our Tottenham fans here inside the Transfer Tavern are getting a little excited about tonight’s first leg against Juventus in the Champions League.

Spurs enter the last 16 on a high from finishing top in a group that contained Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Indeed, as if that wasn’t enough, the fact they’ve recently smashed both Arsenal and Man United have delighted our local Lilywhites.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been playing some of the most attractive football in Europe over the past few seasons, and tonight’s matchup against Italian giants Juventus is sure to be another great game for our regulars to watch. Spurs will be hoping to get something out of the game to take back to Wembley for the return leg and, if that is to happen, some of the squad need to be on top of their game.

A match in Italy against top opposition is always going to be a tough outing but our landlord believes that if these TWO players show up tonight, Juventus will not know what’s hit them…

Harry Kane

Obviously, if Kane plays well, Spurs play well. However, against a tough defence tonight, the England man needs to take whatever chances he can – because there’s not going to be many to take. While it’s hard to criticise Kane, he needs to finish better than he did against Arsenal, where he should really have had a hat-trick.

It’s a true test now for Kane to start putting himself on the pedestal that many of the punters have done over the years. If he’s to reach the heights of Ronaldo and Messi, then proving himself in Europe is a must.

Lucas Moura

Pochettino’s new signing could start his Tottenham adventure with a bang tonight after getting used to life in England over the last few weeks. Still, Moura has barely featured for PSG all season so will need time, though is eligible for the Champions League.

He will surely be hoping to start as he means to go on with a big performance against Juventus and his searing could help break the Old Lady’s stubborn defence late on.

The winger can provide much needed additional firepower up top and assist Kane in creating chances that many of the regulars think are going to be hard to come by.
