When Championship side Leicester bought non-league player Jamie Vardy, it was met by universal disdain from the fans.
The Foxes’ supporters couldn’t quite believe the club were willing to pay £1m for a player who was completely unknown to them and unproven in the league.
The fans were quick to dismiss Vardy, believing he would have his contract terminated come the end of the year with almost all of them agreeing that he was going to be a flop at the club. One fan even mentioned how football had gone mad with this signing.
However, the striker had just had a brilliant season with Fleetwood Town, scoring 31 league goals in the season. But this still wasn’t enough for the 25-year-old to impress his new club’s fans.

The rest, as they say, is history. While the player helped the club win the Championship, that pales into insignificance compared to what was to come.
A Premier League winner, a Premier League Player of the Season and an FWA Footballer of the Year winner, as well as well as a member of the Premier League Team of the Year; these are some accolades for a player that some fans guaranteed would flop.
Vardy etched his name in Premier League history with Leicester, as he spearheaded the attack of one of the greatest stories in sporting history.
Not bad for a horrible signing.
