The 35-year-old made his debut for Notts County against Stevenage on the opening day of their 2015-16 League Two campaign, providing two assists for his teammates.
A lot of supporters were very pleased with the club’s decision to bring him in, as they took to the confirmation on Twitter to express their delight over the signing.

Jon Stead began his career with home town club Huddersfield Town where he came through the club’s academy. He made his league debut for Huddersfield Town, as a nineteen-year-old. And, he didn’t look back from there onwards as he scored 18 goals for the Terriers in the 2003-04 season, before joining Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.
He moved to Ewood Park for over £1 million and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, and, although he wasn’t exactly prolific at Blackburn, he did managed to score six goals, including vital winners, as they avoided relegation.
But, Stead’s career took a negative turn as he was transferred to Sunderland in a deal worth £1.8 million, with spells at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Bristol City to follow.
The forward returned to his home town Huddersfield back in the 2013-14 season, but he never really managed to find his feet, so he ended up moving on loan to Oldham Athletic and Bradford City in a short space of time.
Stead was later released by Huddersfield Town which allowed Notts County to pick him up on a two-year deal back in the summer of 2015.
Indeed, the Football League countryman managed to score his first goal for the club against Aston Villa in the EFL Cup on the 25th of August, but he had to wait until October to score his first in the league. He went on to score 14 goals and provided nine assists in what was a very successful first season at Meadow Lane.
And, he has managed to provide a decent amount of goals and assists to this day for Notts County, with a combined 45 goals and 27 assists to his name since joining the club.
It comes as no surprise that a lot of supporters were delighted with the club’s choice to bring him in on a permanent deal as he has was the club’s top scorer in his first two seasons and helped them reach the play-offs in the last campaign, so Ray Trew secured an absolute gem back in 2015.
