Fighting for safety back in the 2012/13 Premier League season, Queens Park Rangers made a big move in the January transfer window of that campaign after they signed Loic Remy from Marseille.
And once owner Tony Fernandes managed to get the deal over the line, to say Harry Redknapp and supporters were delighted with the acquisition would be an understatement.

“He’s always been a player I’ve admired. I’ve watched him on so many occasions throughout the last few years,” Redknapp told QPR’s official club website (via BBC Sport) following the Frenchman’s arrival.
“He’s quick, can score goals and makes great runs. His movement is excellent. He’s got the potential to be a really outstanding striker.”
Despite all of that and the overall quality Remy brought to QPR’s team, in the end, it was not enough with the west London club eventually condemned to relegation.
As a result, Remy would swiftly join Newcastle United the following campaign, unwilling to drop down to the Championship with the rest of the team during a World Cup year.
Yet ditching the Rs for the Magpies so quickly was not the worst act he committed from a QPR fan’s perspective, with the 32-year-old later going on to join west London rivals Chelsea after the end of his loan spell at St. James’ Park.
There, Remy won the Premier League and League Cup under Jose Mourinho in his debut campaign.
But having spent most of his time at Stamford Bridge on the bench before an unsuccessful loan spell at Crystal Palace, QPR fans will feel like they had the last laugh over the signing who went on to betray them.
