Two losses on the bounce when heading into the international break has seriously dampened the mood amongst the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
However, while many of our punters clad in black and white are rather down in the dumps right now, a transfer story to have emerged over the course of the weekend has helped cheer them up somewhat. Indeed, according to the Daily Mirror, the Magpies are keen on a move for Atletico Madrid striker, Fernando Torres.
The Spaniard worked with Rafa Benitez to great success when at Liverpool together, though the 33-year-old marksman has seen his game drop significantly since then during spells with Chelsea, AC Milan and his current charges.
Still, he’s certainly a big name and was one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has seen when at his best, so the notion of seeing him arrive to help a toothless Newcastle attack is a divisive one.
