The Palace faithful are in the Transfer Tavern today and they should be thankful these players aren’t at the club anymore.
Crystal Palace aren’t necessarily a club notorious for bad dealings in the transfer market. They’re also not notorious for doing anything particularly stand-out.
They just get the job done, sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don’t.
Of course, if you look deep enough then any club has their fair share of dodgy dealings that didn’t quite live up to the potential they had upon signing.
In that respect, Palace are no different.
Things may change for them soon with a new and experienced manager at the helm.
Frank de Boer would rather build youngsters up through the academy than spend money on already produced talent and looking at his former side Ajax, it seems to work.
The future can’t change the past however and on that note, here are Crystal Palace’s four worst signings since 2007.
Steffen Iversen
Why Crystal Palace thought it would be a good idea to sign a 34-year-old past his prime in 2011, but that is exactly what they did when Steffen Iversen joined the club.
The former Spurs and Wolves forward managed two goals in 19 games for Palace before being released only one year after signing.
He retired that year.
Jermaine Easter
The most memorable moment Jermaine Easter had as a Crystal Palace player was missing a penalty in the league cup semi-final against Cardiff who went through.
Apart from that he had a pretty forgettable time with the Eagles and soon moved on to Milwall.
Alex Marrow
Alex Marrow impressed so much during his initial six-month loan spell with Palace that he earnt himself a full transfer to the club.
Then he suffered an ankle injury which would cause him to lose his place in the starting line-up and from 2012 until his departure, was loaned out to various clubs.
Paul Ifill
Paul Ifill’s career stagnated at Palace.
He couldn’t stay fit for the life of him despite plenty of chances in the first team.
One year after signing he was placed on the transfer list and with no offers, was released a year after that.
