TT Battle: Alfredo Morelos vs Odsonne Edouard

Transfer Battles Generic (1)

Celtic currently find themselves sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, while Rangers sit joint on points in second position.

The Hoops certainly haven’t been at their best in the current campaign but they’re still in with a good chance of securing yet another Scottish Premiership title. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard will have his sights set on spoiling Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Celtic Park, with title aspirations of his own.

Celtic and Rangers have made some very impressive signings over the past few years, so we took a look at Alfredo Morelos and Odsonne Edouard’s influence at their respective clubs.

With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…

ALFREDO MORELOS

Rangers signed Alfredo Morelos for £1 million (as stated by the Scottish Sun) back in the summer of 2017.

The South American has gone on to establish himself as a cult-hero at Ibrox over the past couple of years, as well as helping the Bluenoses’ title push in the current campaign, with 20 goals and 10 assists to his name.

He has all the ingredients to become a star in world football and has already shown his qualities during his time in the Scottish Premiership, so he will always be remembered as a hero by supporters.

TT GRADE: A

ODSONNE EDOUARD

Brendan Rodgers originally signed Odsonne Edouard on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain back in the summer of 2017. And, the Frenchman has since joined the club on a permanent basis.

Edouard has produced 14 goals and six assists so far this season, but he hasn’t quite been able to find his feet in front of goal on a regular basis in recent times, which could harm the Hoops’ pursuit of a third successive treble.

Nevertheless, the forward was an impressive signing for the Hoops to secure as he has plenty of potential and could even establish himself as a hero at Celtic Park if he continues to develop.

TT VERDICT:

When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that Morelos has been arguably the best forward in the Scottish Premiership since he moved to Glasgow, while Edouard has displayed his prolific touch over the past couple of years.

The Colombian is a special talent who has thrived under the guidance of Steven Gerrard in the current campaign, so he will continue to play a huge part from here on in if he stays at the club.

Meanwhile, the Hoops’ target man has been a key figure for them this season, despite dropping off the pace.

It’s safe to say that securing Morelos’ signature has been game-changing for the Bluenoses, with goals always guaranteed when he’s in the side. And, Rodgers managed to secure a clever agreement in the form of a season-long loan deal for Edouard in the same transfer window, which proved to be a great move.

Both players have displayed moments of class in the Scottish Premiership this season, but Morelos is currently levels above anyone else in the striking department in Scotland.
