Now enjoying his time in America, Wayne Rooney has had a brilliant career albeit at times, one that was at times very underappreciated. In Harry Kane, he has a forward that could well go on to break all his England records.
It took a while for Harry Kane to find his feet at Tottenham but since then, he’s become arguably, the best striker in the world.
Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney joined Manchester United, for a huge £25.6 million, which at the time was the highest fee ever paid for a player under 20. Some players may have been overawed by the massive fee but Rooney was an instant hit at the club and quickly became a crucial player not just for Man U but also England despite his young age.
Fast forward to now and Rooney has amassed a career that has seen him win five titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League trophy while also becoming England’s all-time leading scorer and United’s too.
He may have become a shadow of his former self as his career at Man U began to draw to a close but overall, Rooney must be remembered as one of the icons of the Premier League and England.

Harry Kane
Last year, Harry Kane reached the prolific 30 goal mark in the Premier League and in the three seasons preceding that, he never dropped below the 20 goal mark. He’s now become Tottenham’s leading man and with him, Tottenham have the ability to beat anyone, without him they could well slide down the table at a quick rate.
Internationally, Kane’s presence has been very similar and in a young England side, he’s the leading figure of Gareth Southgate’s side. In 34 games for England, Kane’s already scored 19 goals and already has Rooney’s 53 goal tally in sight.
While it’s unsure if Kane will break the record, due to his insatiable thirst to score every time he touches the ball, he could well be the man to surpass Rooney.
Once a player going from loan club to loan club, the Tottenham academy product now has become one of the best strikers in the world.
TT Grade: A+
The Verdict
It may take some time for Rooney to finally get the recognition he deserves for what was an incredible career for club and country. What needs to be remembered is just how well he played at such a young age and just how good he was before even turning 20.
In Kane, however, it seems as though we have a striker who could potentially shatter Rooney’s records.
