A number of Rangers supporters have criticised James Tavernier's performance in the first half of their Premiership clash with St Mirren.

Steven Gerrard's side are back in action this afternoon as they continue their pursuit of a second consecutive league crown.

Rangers have made the trip to Paisley hoping to return to the top of the table, with a draw enough to take the champions ahead of current leaders Hearts. A win is far more preferable, though, and victory over their seventh-placed opponents would be another statement of intent to their rivals.

However, they fell behind to a fourth-minute goal from Connor Ronan, but two goals in as many minutes coming up to half-time turned the game on its head to give Gerrard's men a 2-1 lead at the interval.

One player who struggled to impress for Rangers in the opening exchanges was Tavernier, who produced a disappointing first half display and was deemed by some fans to have made an error in the lead-up to St Mirren opening the scoring. He also picked up a yellow card as early as the 19th minute and lost out on many of his duels in the first half.
