The Daily Mail has managed to get Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern a little bit worried as they claim the Reds and Raheem Sterling are miles apart when it comes to his new deal.
Sterling has turned down an offer of £100,000 per week from Liverpool and while even manager Brendan Rodgers has deemed the offer ‘incredible’ we think that Sterling’s agent is whispering in his ear and trying to get the winger to hold out for more money.
As one of our punters notes, we are big fans of Sterling but the fact of the matter is £100,000 per week is a huge amount for any player to be offered and given his current deal is worth £35,000 and runs until 2017, Liverpool have been rather generous in their pay increase.
