New transfer target on Manchester United’s wishlist

Kevin Strootman A group of Manchester United supporters have arrived in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening. They are soon faced with a barrage of abuse from other punters after yesterday’s embarrassing draw against bottom of the table Fulham.

Here in tavern we aren’t surprised given the circumstances but thankfully we have some more positive reports for the Old Trafford faithful to try and improve their mood.

It comes from The Express report that David Moyes is considering a summer swoop for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.

We were quite surprised in the summer when Sir Alex Ferguson and then Moyes failed to follow up the club’s long standing interest in the midfielder when instead he joined Roma for £15.8million

However Italian reports suggest that Moyes had already tried to make amends in January by submitting an offer around £20.8m which was immediately knocked back.

The Serie A side are thought to want around £33m for the 23-year-old, but that doesn’t seem likely to put United off with an improved bid being prepared for the post-season.

Moyes is reportedly desperate to rebuild his struggling current squad and has now outlined another increased offer for the former PSV man.

His agent, Chiel Dekker, was quick to dismiss the speculation, saying: “Kevin is very happy in Rome and his plan is to stay there for a long time.

“He is well, while he likes both the club and the city.”

Do you think Moyes will move again for the Roma ace? Let us know your thoughts below.
