The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are already dreaming of what their team could achieve this season after their good start.

Now, comments made to Kicker (via the Daily Mirror) by Napoli star Marek Hamsik suggesting he’d struggle to turn down a move to Old Trafford have our resident Red Devils dancing on the pool tables.

The 30-year-old has had plenty of opportunities to leave the Italian giants in the past but has remained loyal to Napoli, where he has been for ten years now.

Napoli are one of five clubs in the Serie A to have won both of their opening games with victories over Verona and Atalanta.

The Slovakian international is a fan favourite in Naples following years of commitment to the club.

Manchester United have enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2017/18 campaign.

The first three league games have seen victories against West Ham, Swansea, and Leicester which places them at the top of the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho has a great squad of players at his disposal already but the addition of Hamsik would make United’s midfield even stronger.

On that note, here is Manchester United’s potential midfield line up that includes Marek Hamsik.

CM: Paul Pogba

Becoming the most expensive player in the world at the time when he returned to Old Trafford from Juventus, Paul Pogba has already enjoyed a fruitful campaign.

The first three league games have seen a return of two goals and one assist already for the Frenchman.

To put that into perspective, last season Pogba managed five goals and four assists in the league.

The defensive work of the next man on this list really allows Pogba to shine in the attack.

CDM: Nemanja Matic

Of course, this was going to be the next name on the list.

Ever since Nemanja Matic signed for United from Premier League rivals Chelsea during the summer window, he has become part of a great partnership with Paul Pogba.

He provides a lot of defensive work in the midfield which sometimes goes unnoticed but without it, United would be a lot worse off.

CM: Marek Hamsik

Playing as an attacking midfielder in Mourinho’s system, Marek Hamsik has proven during his time in Italy that he can be one of the best playmakers in the world when he’s at his best.

He can score goals and provide assists from anywhere and does it with consistency.

The Slovakian would be a great addition to the United midfield.
