While their beloved Gers trail bitter rivals Celtic by some distance, the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are largely happy with how their season is shaping up to look. Still in the Scottish Cup and second in the league, Mark Warburton’s side are doing as well as they can right now. 

Those at Ibrox have backed the former Brentford coach in the market thus far, having already brought in the likes of Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman on loan from Arsenal and Bournemouth respectively. Still, while the pair bring in some much-needed creativity, there are other obvious deficiencies in the ranks.

Clearly, going one better in the Scottish Cup than last season is a major priority as they attempt to land some silverware, so further additions to the squad in the closing stages of the window could help on that front, as well as their attempts to qualify for Europe.

With that in mind, here are TWO deals Warburton should ask the owners to seal tomorrow.

Jak Alnwick

The former Newcastle United ‘keeper has been linked with a move to Rangers from Port Vale as Warburton looks to bolster his ranks between the posts.

Though Wes Foderingham is the first choice right now, Alnwick would be a good option to have should Matt Gilks leave for Championship side Wigan.

Reece Oxford

One of the hottest prospects in English football, Reece Oxford has been touted for a move to Ibrox recently as West Ham look to further his development on loan. The defender would be a huge coup for the Gers, even on a temporary basis, giving Warburton an added dimension in both central defence and in midfield.
