Rangers currently sit second in the Scottish Premier League table, but a long way off unbeaten rivals Celtic in the hunt for the title.

Overall though, it has been a positive season for the Gers in their first term back in the top league since being demoted to the bottom tier, and manager Mark Warburton has plenty to be happy about.

The Rangers fans here in the Tavern have been in a buoyant mood for some time now, and despite seeing Celtic running away with the league, talk around the bar and in the games room has been positive in the main.

As January draws to a close though, manager Warburton will no doubt be keen to add a couple of names to his squad.

Liam Boyce

If there is one thing Rangers and Celtic do well, it’s pinching the best of the rest in terms of players in the Scottish Premier League.

Ross County man Boyce is currently the top scorer in the league, above Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele at Celtic, and he could be an astute signing.

Warburton will be well aware of his abilities, and if he keeps his form up he will no doubt earn a move elsewhere.

Urby Emanuelson

The former Ajax and AC Milan man only moved to Sheffield Wednesday this season, but he has yet to even make an appearance for the Owls.

The left sided player has bags of quality, but there is no point in him stewing and sitting on the bench at Hillsborough.

A move to Rangers might interest Emanuelson though, and he would no doubt add some European quality and experience to the ranks at Ibrox.
