West Ham United have heavily strengthened this summer, breaking transfer records in the process.
The Irons did not have the first season at the London Stadium they were hoping for, and supporters were left reminiscing about the days at the Boleyn Ground, as West Ham stuttered to mid-table safety.
Hammers fans will be going into this season with a much more positive outlook on things at the club. The club have spent some serious money in this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Jack Wilshere, Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson, amongst others. The amount of new imports will have surprised even the most optimistic West Ham fans.
Whilst there has been plenty of quality coming in however, not many have been shown the exit door. There is some dead wood at West Ham who need to go for the good of their careers, and whom West Ham should cash in on whilst they still have some value in the market.
With that in mind, here are two flops Manuel Pellegrini has made the mistake of not selling already…
Robert Snodgrass had been in excellent form for Hull City, showing himself to be an excellent creative force in a poor Hull City side who looked dependent on the Scotsman.
He also proved himself to be a set-piece specialist, netting plenty of goals in his time at Hull City.
His January move to East London for £10.2m just never seemed to work out. He played 15 times for the Irons and failed to find the net in any of those games. He spent last season on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa.
Now 30-years-old, Pellegrini should sell the player whilst he still has some value.
Jordan Hugill is a certified flop. Brought in from Preston, the big target man has failed to show anything in his time at the London Stadium.
A deadline day signing brought in solely to appease the fans, West Ham fans will soon want to forget their club shelled out £10m for the front man. West Ham won’t recoup what they paid for him, but with the level of talent now at the London Stadium, there is little point keeping him in East London. He has barely seen any game time in the Premier League.
Manuel Pellegrini needs to sell the front man and focus on coaching a better standard of player.
