Many Watford fans have poured in messages of appreciation for Craig Dawson after he was part of a defence that kept back-to-back clean sheets in two recent home games.

The Watford Twitter account described the defender as a ‘rock‘, referencing his clearances stats from both games against Spurs and Bournemouth. Allegedly, he made 11 clearances vs Spurs – the second highest in the squad – and eight against Bournemouth – five more than anyone else in the team.
According to a report from 90min, the former West Brom defender was only worthy of a six from the reporter, whereas other centre backs Christian Kabasele and Craig Cathcart were worthy of a pair of sevens.
WhoScored’s algorithm was slightly more favourable to the 29-year-old, who gave the defender a 7.04 – the same as Craig Cathcart and 0.1 less than Christian Kabasele with 7.14.
Many Watford fans responded to the tweet, expressing their delight for the defender after he was heavily criticised at the beginning of his Watford career when the side were shipping a lot more goals under Javi Gracia (as shown on Birmingham Live).
Here are some of the replies below…
Fair play to him, perfect example of rising to criticism. Has looked a different player recently

We may be looking better at the back but we need to remember that goals win you games, wins are what we need an goals are something we don’t have at the moment…

If keeps this up along with our other defenders and our attackers start improving the same as our defence has then we’ll genuinely be one of the better teams in the prem
