Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting a little excited about potentially bringing in one of the most feared marksmen in the game to the Emirates.

With a little transfer merry go round happening this winter window, Arsenal will look to profit from their Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez possibly going to either Man United or Chelsea, in order to bring in the highly rated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to strengthen their attacking options.

If the Gabonese striker was to make the move to the Emirates, our regulars think it would certainly show a sign of intent for Wenger that he means business in 2018 as he seeks to possibly go out on a high after his long reign at the Gunners.

Many of our punters are having a little debate as to how Arsenal would line up if the Borussia Dortmund man was to transfer over, and our landlord thinks he has the 3-4-3 formation down to a tee. So, here’s our Arsenals frontline could look going into the second half of the season…

CAM: Mesut Ozil

The German midfield maestro could operate just behind Aubameyang, potentially creating a truly wonderful partnership. With Ozil’s assist record over the years, the Gabon international could potentially reach new goalscoring heights at Arsenal. To our bar staff’s amazement, this should make Aubameyang strike more fear into Premier League and European defences alike.

Indeed, Ozil will be looking to float around the pockets in order to create the space needed for the striker.

CAM: Danny Welbeck

With his energy and pace, Welbeck could play to the left of Ozil, just behind the striker. From his days at Man United under Sir Alex Ferguson, he would have learnt a lot about attacking left wing play, as he often found himself playing in that role within the team.

Still, Welbeck could easily partner Aubameyang upfront and let Ozil operate the number 10 position just in the hole to gove Arsenal and Wenger a little flexibility up front. Could be a great watch.

ST: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

One of the most prolific strikers in recent history, Aubameyang would certainly give Arsenal the goals they need to propel themselves forward in the league. Indeed, while they’re still in two of the three cup competitions, Wenger must surely be happy to have the striker on his side going into the manic part of the season.

As it all comes to a head in May, the Gabon striker could use the second half of the season to bed into life in England and really find his feet going into the 18/19 season.
