Football returns to the Emirates Stadium this weekend and it’s safe to say that the Gunners’ in the Tavern are excited to see their team in action.

The Emirates Cup is a tournament linked to Arsenal since they moved to the Emirates in 2006 and following last year where the tournament didn’t take place, the fans enjoy this tournament as it gives them a good opportunity to see how their team are shaping up in time for the new season.

One player that is surrounded by anticipation is Alexandre Lacazette following his big move from Lyon earlier in the window, and our landlord believes that the Transfer Tavern can expect big things from the Frenchman once he settles in into the pace of the Premier League.

However, Lacazette isn’t the only player that the Arsenal fans are looking forward to seeing and with the excitement building in the Tavern, it has become apparent that their are more than a few players that they simply cannot wait to strut their stuff against Sevilla in their side’s first game in the Emirates Cup.

Our landlord has been listening into the discussions and he has been somewhat surprised with the amount of names that have been listed, especially the two that he is about to share with the rest of the Tavern right here…

Calum Chambers

With Chambers returning later to Arsenal pre-season alongside his England U21 team mate, Rob Holding – the Emirates cup seems a good time for Arsene Wenger to see if the young defender is still in his plans with the season fast approaching.

Chambers was loaned out to Middlesbrough last season and although he was named the starting centre-back for the England U21 European Championships, it would still seem that he needs to prove himself to the Arsenal boss this pre-season.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Another player who returned late to pre-season, this time due to injury, is Jeff Reine-Adelaide, but with big things expected from the 19-year-old our landlord believes the Emirates Cup is the perfect time for Wenger to give the Frenchman a run out before the season starts.

The emphasis on Reine-Adelaide comes from the uncertainty around Alexis Sanchez’s future and if Alexis is too leave Arsenal, Arsene Wenger may look to Reine-Adelaide to improve fast and gradually become as effective as the Chilean.
