On a weekly basis at the Tavern, the Arsenal striker problem rears its head.
Year after year the Gunners punters bemoan Wenger for sticking with the likes of Giroud and Walcott, whilst also claiming that Arsenal could end their wait for a league title with a top class striker up front.
The manager even appears to be losing faith with Giroud, who is recovering from injury but has played very few minutes when fit, whilst Lucas Perez cannot get a game ahead of Sanchez.
Clearly there is something holding Wenger back from starting his recognised strikers, but with the Gunners embarking on a six-game winning streak and tying with Manchester City at the top – this could be the year to get some competition in up front and really push for the title.
With that in mind, here are two names that we think Arsenal should look at to sort their striking woes.
MAURO ICARDI
The first man on our list is Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine has been nothing short of superb for Inter over the last three seasons, scoring 53 goals in 96 games.
Icardi would be the perfect man to play in Arsenal’s system as he is strong enough to hold up play but also like Sanchez in the way he chases balls down – and he is also a fine finisher to boot.
The 23-year-old is in the form of his life right now with six goals in his first five Series A games, and he may well be available in January after falling out with Inter’s fans.
ANDRE SILVA
While the 20-year-old may not start for Arsenal straight away, the Gunners may be wise to snap him up before Europe’s giants are alerted to his form.
The youngster has managed five goals in his opening seven games and is looking like the star player of a Porto side aiming to get back to the top of a Portuguese game.
If there’s one thing Porto are famous for, it’s bringing in top strikers and knowing how to use them – Falcao, Jackson Martinez are just two examples. The fact they’ve kept faith with one of their youngsters indicates that he may be the real deal.
