Wenger has a mixed track record of bringing in players who aren’t known to many.
One continent that has been a key feature in the Wenger era has been the continent of Africa – the likes of Alex Song, being one of the most successful. There is no doubt of the talent the continent of Africa currently has, with many in the Premier League already.
The Gunners are off to a flyer this season, but like many of our punters know – an injury or two can alter that entirely. With the January window just around the corner, it’s possible that Wenger may look to make some minor improvements.
With that we take a look at TWO midfielders from Africa that Arsenal should look to sign in January…
NABY KEITA
One of the most impressive midfielders thus far at the start of the Bundesliga season for his club RB Leipzig – who themselves have had a remarkable start! Newly promoted and sitting just behind Bayern in the table.
The 21-year-old versatile central midfielder can play both defensively and further forward in the middle of the park. He will be a tough player for Arsenal to bring in after the start he’s made as its likely Leipzig will be reluctant to let him go.
Would be well worth a shout though and could provide a challenge for the current crop of midfielders at the Emirates.
ANDRE-FRANK ZAMBO ANGUISSA
If for nothing else he’s worth buying just to hear an English commentator to try and pronounce his name!
But on a more serious note, the Cameroon midfielder broke into the Marseille side in France and has looked solid at the start of the Ligue 1 campaign. Many won’t have heard of him and that could be what helps the Gunners to bring him to club. He is a defensive midfielder by trade but also has the pace and the ability to play alongside the more attacking midfield line.
The 20-year-old could be the next in a string of successful Cameroonian players to feature for the Gunners – could he be the next unknown star to sign for the club and become an established name?
