Wenger to Barcelona? Respected journo has his say on Arsenal boss to Nou Camp

Arsene Wenger’s situation at Arsenal is a saga that shows no signs of going away quickly and here in the Transfer Tavern, Gunners fans are chatting about their French boss every day.

While some remain in love with ‘Le Prof’, it seems increasing numbers are sure that the end of his contract in a few months’ time should coincide with him stepping down, with the north London club having not won a Premier League title since 2003/04, while the same failures consistently cost them big opportunities.

So, every update regarding Wenger is analysed, and today Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague has had his say on Wenger’s chances of succeeding Luis Enrique at Barcelona at the end of the season, with the Spaniard having recently announced his resignation.

Answering questions in a Live Q&A, he revealed that the Arsenal boss isn’t a candidate he believes is in with a chance:

“I feel Barcelona is not aware of the amazing job Arsene Wenger has done at Arsenal. They only see results and titles from the last decade and have not considered him for the job.

“I do not think he represents the Barcelona style, which has moved on a lot since the days of Guardiola, but could be a good representative of the club in many other ways if he fancied it, which he says he does not. His time has passed for that kind of role at Barcelona though.”

This has only caused more divided in the Tavern, with the pro-Wenger brigade happy to hear that one of the world’s biggest clubs are not after their man, while those who want him gone are annoyed that a suitor has seemingly been crossed off the lost.
