West Brom: Baggies given green light for Benteke move

According to The Sun, West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce has been given the go-ahead to sign Christian Benteke from Crystal Palace.

Baggies could move for Benteke

Roy Hodgson has reportedly told Benteke that his game-time will be limited at Selhurst Park, and Allardyce is a fan of the 30-year-old.

As such, he is being targetted by The Baggies, and a move for the striker has been given the green light by Palace.

Last-gasp arrival

The Midlands outfit have already signed one striker this month, with Mbaye Diagne joining on loan with an option to buy from Galatasaray (wba.co.uk). He made an impact in his first match against Fulham, providing an assist for Matheus Pereira in their 2-2 draw with the Cottagers.

Benteke, with 133 goals throughout his career – including 75 in the Premier League (Transfermarkt) – is a forward with plenty of experience. Big, strong and a nuisance up front, he has already been managed by Allardyce in the past – he knows exactly what he will be getting from the Belgium international.

There are now a matter of hours left in this window, so West Brom will have to move quickly if they do want to add Benteke to their attacking options for the rest of the campaign.

In other news, West Brom fans hammer this man’s display against Fulham.
