West Brom have enquired about a potential loan move for castaway Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
Football Insider has reported that the Baggies have made initial contact over bringing the Belgian to The Hawthorns in this transfer window. The report has highlighted the fact that Chelsea valued Batshuayi at £50m back in 2018 amid huge interest from other Premier League clubs.

Slaven Bilic’s side are looking forward to their top-flight return after spending two seasons in the Championship following their relegation at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. Recruiting a Premier League-proven forward could be key for West Brom’s survival this coming season.

Batshuayi currently has as Transfermarkt value of £12.6m after falling drastically down the pecking order at Chelsea. The emergence of Tammy Abraham and arrival of new signing Timo Werner will likely make it extremely difficult for the 26-year-old to find game-time at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are reportedly hoping to cash in on Batshuayi but would also be open to a loan move. This is positive news for the Baggies, who like many other top-flight clubs may be operating on limited funds in this transfer window.

Should they sign the Belgium international, he will join the likes of Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin in a fight for a place in Bilic’s first XI. If he has a promising season with West Brom, they may be inclined to sign him permanently, which will further fund Frank Lampard’s quest for new transfers.
