West Bromwich Albion were once again on the losing end of the result against Newcastle United on Saturday, and Karlan Grant experienced an awful afternoon.
The Baggies were defeated 2-1 by a Newcastle side that had been plunged into chaos over the past couple of weeks after an outbreak at the club’s training ground. The result sees them remain in 19th place in the Premier League table.
Striker Grant, who signed for £15m from Huddersfield during the transfer window, had a torrid time at St. James’ Park. He managed a pass accuracy of just 58%, amassed 19 touches, failed to produce a single shot and was hooked at half-time by Slaven Bilic.
Continues to underperform
Since making the move to the Baggies, Grant has managed just one goal in eight games. Given what they paid for him – the forward is amongst their most expensive signings ever behind record purchases Grady Diangana and Nacer Chadli, who both cost £18m – Bilic will have expected a lot more from him since he made the switch.
Is Grant good enough for West Brom?
West Brom have now scored just nine goals in 12 games this term in the top flight. If they are to stay up, they will need to be far more prolific in front of goal. Bilic, if he is given the time to turn it around, will be hoping that Grant can find his shooting boots as soon as possible.
In other news, West Brom fans hammer this man against Newcastle.
