West Brom: Fans slam Romaine Sawyers during first half vs Wolves

Many West Brom fans have been left slamming Romaine Sawyers as he was named in the starting XI to play Wolves in their Premier League away fixture.
The 29-year old started the game in the heart of the midfield alongside captain Jake Livermore, with new signing Robert Snodgrass from West Ham United also starting, with Kamil Grosicki and Matheus Pereira behind Callum Robinson up top for Sam Allardyce’s team.
Should Sawyers start for West Brom?
Yes

No

Dara O’Shea, Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Kieran Gibbs started in defence ahead of David Button, who is filling in for Sam Johnstone as the goalkeeper returned a positive Covid test.
The visitors took an early lead courtesy of a penalty from Matheus Pereira, but Fabio Silva equalised for the hosts before Willy Boly crushed the Baggies’ hopes before half-time.
Several members of the Hawthorns faithful clearly feel as if it will be a harder match to win at Molineux with the English midfielder playing, and based on the scoreline at the break, they may be correct.
West Brom fan reaction to Sawyers starting
These Baggies slammed the decision to start him on Twitter, with one WBA supporter even going as far as to brand him as ‘dreadful’:
“After seeing the team news… I can’t see anything but a Wolves win. Johnstone missing is another huge blow. Our midfield 2. Sawyers and Jake I’ve seen more movement down Gornal Crem!! #WBA”
“Sawyers just fills you with dread”
“Sawyers and Livermore have been dreadful at best and provide no cover for the defence”
“Damn you to the all the people saying Sawyers had been dropped today, very cruel getting people’s hopes up like that”
“Oh I agree, I’m assuming you mean Sawyers? He’s not good enough for the reserves. But because we paid big money for GD he’s gonna be the one to suffer unfortunately.”
“Best 2 players out mate! Johnstone’s got Covid so hope he’s ok it’s seeing Sawyers in this team which is the biggest joke! No Diangana”
