Express and Star journalist Luke Hatfield believes that West Bromwich Albion are most likely to sign Daryl Dike on loan.

The Orlando City striker spent time on loan at Barnsley last season, where he scored nine goals in the Championship.

Whilst with the Tykes, Dike played under now West Bromwich Albion manager Valerien Ismael and the Express and Star have reported that Dike is one of the names on a shortlist of strikers that the Baggies are interested in.

The report says that Orlando could be tempted to allow Dike another loan move but with a significant loan fee.

And Hatfield has told the Transfer Tavern: “A loan move is the most likely for Albion for Dike. He obviously stood out for Barnsley before under Ismael and a lot of Albion fans have seen his performances with Barnsley under him and figured he would be the perfect man and I think a lot of people think that.

“I think he’s on Ismael’s shortlist, he’s a player that has obviously made a lasting impression on him, knows the Ishmael style of play really well and you can see with Ismael the way that he’s bought in someone like Alex Mowatt who knows the system as well, I think it would work perfectly – I think he’d be a fantastic signing for Albion, but I do think a loan is most likely, it’ll probably be with a view if they are to go up to sign him on a permanent basis but even the loan fee would be quite pricey.”

West Brom have made an unbeaten start to life back in the Championship and currently sit top of the table. The Baggies drew 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth on the opening night of the season but have followed that up with two successive victories since, beating Luton Town 3-2 and then winning 4-0 against Sheffield United.
