According to The Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion are one of a number of clubs interested in Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
Benteke on Baggies radar
This latest report says that Benteke is also on their radar, with Palace willing to listen to offers for the 38-time Belgium international.
Benteke, at least, is a player that Allardyce is familiar with having managed him at Palace. His time at Selhurst Park has been far from positive – during the 16/17 season, he did net 15 times in the Premier League, but he has only scored nine in the top flight since then (Transfermarkt).
There has been an up-turn in form more recently though – he has three strikes in 13 outings this time around and was called “fantastic” by teammate Jordan Ayew last March (BT Sport). Throughout his career, he has proven at times to be exactly that.
Would you liked to have signed Christian Benteke?
Whether he could retrieve that form is up for debate, but Allardyce will at least know what he is getting from the forward. If he can get back to his best, he could solve a huge problem for the Baggies – they have scored just 15 times in the Premier League this term, more than only two other sides (Sky Sports).
It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old ends up staying in London or whether he moves on to pastures new.
