West Brom could turn Jayson Molumby's temporary summer move into a permanent one, according to reliable journalist Steve Madeley.

The Lowdown: West Brom sign Molumby on loan

The Baggies have made a commanding start to their Championship season, looking every bit promotion hopefuls and playing good football under new manager Valerien Ismael.

On Friday, they completed the loan signing of Molumby, with the 22-year-old joining from Brighton, having made five appearances for the Seagulls to date.

The Latest: Deal could become permanent

Taking to Twitter, The Athletic's Madeley claimed it is 'very likely' that the move will become permanent eventually, with Brighton seemingly not seeing a future for Molumby at the club.

The midfielder's current Brighton deal expires next summer, meaning West Brom could snap him up on a free transfer in 2022.

The Verdict: Shrewd addition by Baggies

Molumby may not be good enough to be starting regularly for a Premier League club, but he could be a strong addition to the Baggies' squad, having made 51 appearances in the Championship.

He could add depth in midfield areas and allow Ismael to rotate his squad more, and if he does impress, getting him for free next year could prove to be a bargain as an upgrade to the depth at the club, whether he can improve to be a Premier League regular or not.
