West Bromich Albion have a big transfer window coming up and they will need to bring in some new players that Sam Allardyce needs if they want to stay up. This might mean players have to leave, and there has been an update on the future of Kieran Gibbs.
The latest on Gibbs
According to The Athletic, West Brom will once again consider letting Kieran Gibbs leave The Hawthorns in January in order to free up some of the wage bill. He is “among Albion’s highest earners” and Slaven Bilic was ready to sell the former Arsenal left-back in the last transfer window.
This move would make sense
The defender has managed an average of 1.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game in his Premier League appearances this season (WhoScored), but he is not a key player, so it certainly feels like a big waste of money to be keeping him at the club.
There is no doubting the quality Gibbs used to have – Danny Mills has been full of praise not too long ago: “A player with great experience, clearly great quality as well and he’s one of those that gets back fit, adds experience and quality.”
However it seems like he is somewhat surplus to requirements. If they let him depart, it would free up some money for the club and help Allardyce bring in some quality which could help keep the Baggies in the division.
In other news, West Brom fans hammered this man against Palace.
