West Bromwich Albion: Baggies faithful congratulate ‘future’ number one

West Bromwich Albion fans were in a congratulatory mood after young goalkeeper Josh Griffiths signed a four-year contract at the club.

The 18-year-old has signed a deal until 2023 and has impressed during his stints with the first-team squad over the course of the last year.

Last summer, Griffiths made his way to training with the first-team, and his performances saw complaints from Dwight Gayle that he couldn’t beat him, and provoked questions from Jake Livermore about whether he was tied down with the club.

This was revealed by Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling, who said: “When you hear Dwight Gayle complaining he can never beat him and Jake Livermore checking on whether we have got him tied down on a contract, you know you’ve got a talent on your hands.” (Source: West Brom)

The 18-year-old spoke of his delight at signing a new contract at the club.

He said: “I’ve been at the Club since I was 10 so this is pretty special for me. I’m delighted.” (Source: West Brom)
