West Bromwich Albion fans have been lavishing praise on Conor Townsend after the defender’s cameo off the bench in the side’s 2-2 draw against Barnsley.
Can West Brom win the Championship?
Yes
No
The 26-year-old was making just his third appearance of the season as he came off the bench to assist Matheus Pereira’s equalising goal on Wednesday.
Townsend came on at half-time during the clash with the Tykes with the score at 2-0 to Barnsley. He ended up putting in the second-highest number of crosses into the box of any West Brom player, showing his short but effective impact (via WhoScored)
His appearance against Barnsley was just his second Championship match of the season and his first since the opening day of the season (via Transfermarkt).
After being asked what they thought of the £675k-rated defender’s performance, fans lauded Townsend for his performance as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Hawthorns faithful:

Very! He changed the game and didn’t look like he had been out with an injury at all.
