West Bromwich Albion fans have been sending their condolences to Rob Spray after the Baggies fan died before England’s encounter with Bulgaria this week.
The 32-year-old died in hospital after being found in a ‘helpless’ condition in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia (via BBC).
The club have reached out to the family of the young fan to offer their support after his death. He will be remembered with a possible salute during next Tuesday’s encounter against Barnsley (via WBA).
The European Championship qualifier proved a horrible game despite the 6-0 win for the Lions. Racist chanting and Nazi Salutes were rife during the encounter, with many caught live on air doing the infamous gesture (ITV via The Sun).
The aftermath has seen the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) president, Borislav Mihaylov, and the manager, Krasimir Balakov, both resign from their positions.
However, the fans did their best to remember Spray, who tragically lost his life prior to the game as they took to Twitter to react.
