Rumours have reignited over West Ham United’s interest in goalkeeper Jack Butland, and a lot of the Hammers fan base are not happy about it.
According to MailSport, via West Ham News, the England international, who was a transfer target for the East London side in the past (per 90min), is still fancied by the club and in particular by their owners David Gold and David Sullivan, who have been big admirers of Butland.

The European U17 champion with England, per Transfermarkt, was seen as a great shot stopper whilst playing for Stoke in the Premier League, however his form has deteriorated since they have been relegated.
In their first campaign in the second tier he managed a decent 18 clean sheets in 45 games whilst only conceding 51 goals. However so far this term he has played 30 times and has only kept 8 clean sheets, whilst already having conceded 45 goals. He was even dropped by previous manager Nathan Jones earlier in the campaign after a string of costly errors.
It is mistakes like the one highlighted by the Times that has possibly seen him not make the rise many thought he would, and it is also likely to be why many Hammers fans do not see him as an ideal replacement for Lukasz Fabianski, who at the age of 35 has kept five clean sheets (only three less than Butland and in a better division) in 16 games, (14 appearances fewer than the Englishman) per Transfermarkt.
Here is what fans had to say following the news:
David Gold and David Sullivan remain as big admirers of England international Jack Butland. He is expected as a replacement for Fabianski, who is considered to be regressing by the West Ham management.
