West Ham: ExWHUemployee shares big concern

West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has taken to Twitter to deliver the verdict on what the “most concerning thing” about the Irons’ 0-0 draw with Fulham on Saturday was.

The east London club drew their first game since 29th December on Saturday, having won all but one of their last eight games in all competitions heading into this Fulham clash.

What has ExWHUemployee said in reaction to this draw?

Following the game, the Irons insider posted a tweet admitting that West Ham “didn’t perform well” to earn just a draw versus relegation-battling Fulham, with the Hammers in contention for a European qualification spot at present.

Ex went on to say that his side “should have done better” on Saturday before he issued a three-word claim on his “most concerning” takeaway from this clash, saying that “players looking tired” alarmed him.

10 of the 11 players who started the Irons’ Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday also started their midweek win over Aston Villa, while 10 of the 11 players who started versus Fulham also started their 3-1 loss to Liverpool last weekend.

Additionally, six of the Irons players who started on Saturday have featured in at least 22 of the Hammers’ 23 league games so far this term.

So, it’s clear that some West Ham players have been relied on quite heavily this term and perhaps it’s not a massive surprise if they are experiencing some fatigue as Ex has suggested.

Given that these players have been relied on so heavily and have helped David Moyes’ squad to do as well as they have this season, it may be understandable why the prospect of those players needing rest is concerning. That’s because it could put the Irons’ chances of finishing in a European qualification place in jeopardy.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham’s results now take a turn for the worst, with Moyes potentially having to choose between fielding fatigued players or resting them and taking the risk of their replacements not providing the same level of quality.

In other news, Noel Whelan was left perplexed by West Ham’s failure to replace Sebastien Haller last month.
