There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that West Ham United could well be about to swoop for a Chelsea star.
Romelu Lukaku has been more than a hit during his time on loan at West Bromwich Albion this season and became only the third player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick against Manchester United (no mean feat!) following Dirk Kuyt and also David Bentley. Now it seems that Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is preparing to face life without Andy Carroll and now it seems that the imposing Lukaku is on his transfer wishlist.
Chelsea are unwilling to sell the player they see as the eventual star for them up top, but given they already have Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and are looking to get Edinson Cavani in this summer, it seems that the club are willing to loan Lukaku out one last time.
The player himself would welcome another loan move to gain more experience in the Premier League and despite forming a good bond with Baggies boss Steve Clarke, the Belgian would prefer to move to a different club. Ideally European football would be on the player’s radar and given Swansea City are keen to take the player for a season, West Ham United could struggle to convince the player to sign for them.
If you were Lukaku would you choose a loan spell to West Ham or Swansea? Let us know your thoughts below.
