As a football fan, two of the worst things that can happen to your side are giving away a penalty and losing a player to injury, so when Fabian Balbuena gave away a penalty and had to come off injured after doing so, a lot of West Ham fans were gutted.

The Paraguayan defender has been one of the bargains of the season so far. At the age of 27, the defender joined the club from Corinthians for around £3 million and so far he’s looked like a player who’s been playing Premier League football his entire life, and the fans have the ever-impressive Manuel Pellegrini to thank for making the call to bring him to the club.
Lately, the defender has been in stellar form, but it looks like he now faces having Christmas off after his setback when he was penalised for bringing down Roberto Pereyra for a Watford spot-kick. The penalty was converted by Troy Deeney as the Hornets stung West Ham, ending their four-game winning streak that had seen Balbuena shine.

The Irons will be gutted to lose Balbuena and will just hope the defender can make a quick recovery and hopefully be back for their trip to Southampton in four days time.
