West Ham fans on Twitter weren’t so confident when Andy Carroll came on yesterday

Share

Yesterday saw Andy Carroll in action again for the second time in ten days. The big target man came off the bench for the final half an hour of the Hammers’ 3-1 win over Cardiff City and whilst the game was as good as won at 3-0 when he was introduced, some of the more glass-half-empty Irons weren’t convinced it was done and dusted.

Carroll came on to replacer Javier Hernandez, who after grabbing an impressive brace against Newcastle on the weekend failed to add to his three Premier League goals against Neil Warnock’s side. However, Carroll failed to grab a goal meaning that he has to wait even longer to find the net again after last bagging back in April, making it 232 days since he last cashed in on a goal bonus.

The striker doesn’t look to have a massive future at the London Stadium, especially considering that Manuel Pellegrini inherited the Englishman in his squad and still looked to add another forward in the form of Lucas Perez. Last night saw the Chilean’s Spanish forward grab two off the bench when he replaced Marko Arnautovic and it’s fair to say that the Hammers were much happier to see Perez off the bench than they were to see Carroll.

The Hammers didn’t expect to see Carroll play last night and they weren’t too pleased when he was called into action.
