Newcastle fans take to Twitter to call that Cardiff will drop

For a lot of the season, the Magpies have been pulled into the ongoing relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League. However, to tell the truth, there isn’t much of a battle going on anymore. Both Cardiff and Huddersfield are as good as down, and it seems to be between Burnley, Cardiff and Southampton over who will join them.

Starting to wonder if Burnley will switch places with Cardiff in relegation battle. Shambles atm. That 18th place could be any of five teams atm, with some more unlikely than others, take your pick. #nufc

The bookies favourite to join the teams placed 19th and 20th in dropping down to the Championship are Cardiff, and that is exactly what the Geordies are predicting. The Northeast’s finest team are as good as safe from where they’re looking. Until it’s mathematically impossible they’ll keep going, but with Cardiff still to face both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool in their last eight games, it looks bleak.

That kind of run in is going to go a very long way in the relegation battle. The Bluebirds already occupy the final relegation place despite the fact that Neil Warnock’s side was able to overcome West Ham 2-0 on the weekend, and as far as the Geordies are concerned, as long as it’s not them joining Huddersfield and Fulham then it doesn’t matter as they prepare for what could be a long and frustrating summer window.
