Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer is confident that Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham could bag 20 goals in West Ham’s current team.
If reports are to be believed, the 23-year-old could be making the switch from west London to east London this summer after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have revived their interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and are willing to offer Abraham in any potential deal for their former academy player.
Are you taking Abraham plus cash for Rice?
Go away, Chelsea!
Do it if Rice wants to leave
And if Abraham does end up at the London Stadium, Palmer is backing the England international to do big things there.
The ex-Leeds United and Southampton player exclusively told TT:
“Listen. Tammy will get you 20 goals, 20 goals. And that’s what’s going to take you to the next level.”
With Abraham having found himself far from Chelsea’s first-team plans following the arrival of Tuchel, a move away from Stamford Bridge does look inevitable.
A move to West Ham also looks very plausible after they sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax back in the January transfer window without bringing in a replacement.
Whether the Hammers would be willing to entertain any deal that involves Rice going the other way, though, remains to be seen.
