West Ham: Fans react to Yarmolenko wondergoal

West Ham: Fans react to Yarmolenko wondergoal - West Ham News

West Ham United’s Andriy Yarmolenko scored an outstanding goal for Ukraine as they took on the Netherlands in their Euro 2020 opener in Amsterdam.

Ukraine were trailing 2-0 at the time after former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and reported Hammers target Wout Weghorst had struck for Frank de Boer’s men.

But with 15 minutes to go, Yarmolenko received the ball from Roman Yaremchuk as he cut inside from the right flank and bent a shot into the top left corner beyond Maarten Stekelenburg.

Yaremchuk then headed Ukraine level four minutes later, seemingly snatching a point.

But Denzel Dumfries struck for the Netherlands with five remaining, and they were able to hold on for the victory.

Yarmolenko’s future in doubt

Yarmolenko came into the tournament having only played 362 Premier League minutes for West Ham during the 2020/21 season.

The 31-year-old is rumoured to be leaving the London Stadium before the start of the new campaign, with former club Dynamo Kyiv said to be interested.

West Ham’s official Twitter account posted the footage of his goal, and here’s how some of the club’s supporters reacted.
