West Ham United are thought to be closing in on another addition this summer as Manuel Pellegrini continues to rebuild his squad during the transfer window.
The Chilean has seen a number of players arrive at the London Stadium ahead of his first season in charge of the Hammers and will be pleased with the business already conducted.
He has managed to add players to all areas of the field except for his forward department, however, reports in Spain are claiming that could all be about to change.
It is believed the Irons had an initial bid of €30m knocked back last week, however, with the deadline fast approaching, the Hammers have decided not to risk a long negotiation process and have offered the full amount.
The 21-year-old had impressed with Celta Vigo in La Liga last season, where he found the back of the net 17 times in 36 appearances, which saw him earn a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad.
The Verdict:

Gomez would be a great signing for West Ham this summer if he were able to find his shooting boots fairly quickly.
€50m for a 21-year-old is a lot of money, especially for a club like the Hammers to splash out on and they will be hoping he can hit the ground running.
His goalscoring record in one of Europe’s top leagues is one to take note of, however, there will be some scepticism about whether the South American can replicate that form in the Premier League.
