According to the agent of Nikola Vlasic, West Ham United are in negotiations with CSKA Moscow as they attempt to sign the Croatia international.

The Lowdown: West Ham set for late burst?

The Hammers have so far brought in just two fresh faces during the summer transfer window in Alphonse Areola and Kurt Zouma.

However, given that they have qualified for the group stage of the Europa League, many Irons supporters may have expected more business to be done.

The Latest: Hammers in Vlasic talks

Tonci Martic, the agent of Vlasic, has been discussing the future of his client.

He said (via eurostavka.ru): "We are in the process of negotiations with West Ham, they are progressing. But the deal has not been completed yet."

West Ham would reportedly need to spend €30m (£25.7m) to capture the midfielder.

The Verdict: Goalscoring midfielder

West Ham already have one goalscoring midfielder in Tomas Soucek, who found the back of the net ten times in the Premier League last season (Transfermarkt), and in Vlasic they would be getting another player who fits that bill.

In 108 games in Moscow, he has found the back of the net 33 times, also laying on 21 assists. In the last two seasons alone he has scored 25 goals, a superb return for a player in his position.

The Hammers have left it late if they are making a concrete move for Vlasic, who played for Croatia at Euro 2020, but they would at least be signing a real talent with a proven scoring record. It just remains to be seen whether there is enough time left to get the deal done before tomorrow's transfer deadline.
