According to journalist Tancredi Palmeri, West Ham United have been offered the chance to sign free agent Diego Costa as the reporter drops a late transfer claim – with the Spaniard apparently ‘proposed‘ to GSB.
The former Chelsea striker, who terminated his contract with Atletico Madrid back in December, has been linked with a host of clubs as a free signing.
West Ham offered Diego Costa chance
Scoring 52 Premier League goals in total, he is certainly accomplished in the top flight, and now Palmeri has dropped this claim West Ham have been offered an opportunity to sign him as the deadline nears.
Indeed, he has apparently been ‘proposed‘ to West Ham in this late update, coming after pundit Paul Merson told Sky Sports he was ‘perfect for West Ham’ earlier this month (via Hammers News, 13:03, January 2nd, 2021).
It appears that West Ham may be able to sign him with this offer on deadline day, but it remains to be seen whether GSB and co will take up the proposal after the capture of Jesse Lingard.
Transfer Tavern take
The Irons have been heavily touted to sign a striker throughout the month, with manager David Moyes arguably short of options at the moment going forward.
Michail Antonio and Mipo Odubeko appear to be his only natural choices, alongside potential makeshift strikers like Andriy Yarmolenko and Lingard, but it’s currently unsure whether West Ham will turn to Costa.
