Speaking to Football Insider, a West Ham United source has apparently told the outlet that GSB are plotting to offload Ukrainian star Andriy Yarmolenko in the summer at a huge £13 million loss – coming after he picked up knee damage and looks set for a spell on the sidelines (West Ham official).
Yarmolenko, who has been operating as a makeshift striker in the absence of Michail Antonio, could depart this summer as GSB reportedly plan to sell him at the end of the season.
West Ham plot Yarmolenko sale
Indeed, a Hammers source has apparently explained to Football Insider that the club are willing to offload despite the potential of taking a £13 million loss.
An offer of between £5-6m could be enough to sway West Ham chiefs into a sale as they apparently recognise that the club will need to take a financial hit to get him off the books.
Yarmolenko is currently the club’s top earner on £115,000-per-week (Spotrac), and the Hammers see him as a senior figure who is surplus-to-requirements and potentially likely to leave.
Transfer Tavern take
Manager David Moyes will apparently have to sell-to-buy if he wishes to bring in new additions this summer, with Yarmolenko now a serious candidate for the chopping block according to this report.
Declan Rice, speaking to West Ham’s official website, once described Yarmolenko as ‘really special’, especially for his technique, but now it appears GSB and co see him as an expendable option.
Whether or not the Irons find a suitable buyer remains to be seen, but judging by this report, they appear eager for a summer sale.
